Acceptable Use Policy
This Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) defines what you may and may not do with the Mittis platform. It exists to keep messaging trustworthy, protect recipients, and meet carrier, CTIA, and legal requirements. It is incorporated into our Terms of Service.
Your core obligations
- Only message recipients who have given you valid, documented consent appropriate to the message type.
- Honor opt-outs immediately and support
STOP,HELP, and related keywords (see our Messaging Policy). - Send only content consistent with your registered brand and campaign use cases.
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations (including the TCPA and CAN-SPAM where applicable), the CTIA Messaging Principles and Best Practices, and carrier and The Campaign Registry rules.
Prohibited content (including SHAFT)
You may not use Mittis to send messages that contain, promote, facilitate, or relate to the following. The “SHAFT” categories are prohibited or tightly restricted by carriers and are not permitted on the platform:
- S — Sex: sexually explicit or pornographic content, or adult services.
- H — Hate: content that is hateful, harassing, or promotes violence or discrimination against individuals or groups.
- A — Alcohol: alcohol-related content that does not meet all applicable age-gating and legal requirements.
- F — Firearms: the unlawful sale or promotion of firearms, ammunition, or related products.
- T — Tobacco: tobacco, vaping, and related products where restricted.
Other prohibited content & conduct
- Spam & unsolicited messaging — messaging recipients without valid consent, or sending bulk unsolicited messages.
- Phishing, fraud & scams — deceptive content, impersonation, account-takeover attempts, or any attempt to obtain money or credentials under false pretenses.
- Illegal goods & activities — controlled substances and cannabis (including CBD where restricted), illegal gambling, and other unlawful goods or services.
- High-risk financial & “SHAFT-adjacent” content — payday or high-interest short-term loans, debt collection that violates law, and deceptive financial offers.
- Malware & harmful links — distributing malware, or using public URL shorteners or shared/disallowed links to disguise destinations.
- Evasion — “snowshoeing” across numbers, content manipulation to evade filters, or otherwise circumventing carrier controls or this AUP.
- Infringement & privacy violations — infringing intellectual property or unlawfully collecting or sharing personal data.
Consent & data integrity
You must maintain records of consent and make them available on request. You may not buy, sell, rent, or share recipient lists or opt-in data in violation of law or our Privacy Policy. Consent is not transferable between unrelated brands.
Enforcement
We take violations seriously. Depending on severity, we may, with or without prior notice:
- Filter, throttle, or block specific messages or campaigns;
- Suspend or terminate affected campaigns, numbers, or accounts;
- Report violations to carriers, The Campaign Registry, regulators, or law enforcement as required;
- Retain fees and pursue remedies available under the Terms of Service and applicable law.
Carriers and The Campaign Registry may also independently filter, suspend, or penalize traffic that violates their rules, including monetary penalties for severe violations such as SHAFT content, phishing, or illegal content.
